Franklin Graham announced this week that he supports Christian bakery owners, Aaron and Melissa Klein, who have come under fire from LGBT activists.
“We’re all in real danger if something isn’t done to put a stop to this kind of deliberate targeting and malicious treatment of Christians,” Graham said on his Facebook page.
The Kleins were ordered by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries to pay $135,000 in damages to a lesbian couple. The Kleins had refused to make the couple a wedding cake.
After the ruling, the Family Research Council established a GoFundMe account to help the Kleins pay the fine. The account raised about $100,000 in less than eight hours.
But then GoFundMe pulled the account from its site.
“After careful review by our team, we have found the ‘Support Sweet Cakes By Melissa’ campaign to be in violation of our Terms and Conditions,” a message to donors said. “The money raised thus far will still be made available for withdrawal.”
In response, Graham is letting people donate to the Klein family through Samaritan’s Purse, Fox News reports.
“The Kleins have already had to close their Oregon bakery business, Sweet Cakes by Melissa and do not have this money to pay,” Graham wrote. “Aaron said it would financially ruin their family and could cost them their home. They have done nothing wrong, and their lives, along with their five children, have been turned upside down by this persecution.”
