What Are YOU Called to Do? Take the Self-Examination Test

Where are you right now? Do you know your purpose? Do you believe you’re doing what you’re called to do? Or are you still in a place of waiting? These are all questions geared to examine where you are in this season of your life. Things are wrapping up in the world around us and we really need to be walking in our purpose or walking towards it by the time Jesus Christ comes back again.

It’s time to get serious and prepare yourself in every way to be ready for that great day, but also to be able to help others to be ready as well. The Bible tells us in Luke 12:38, “He may come in the middle of the night or just before dawn. But whenever he comes, there will be special favor for his servants who are ready!” (NLT) Key words…SERVANTS and READY. So my questions here are, “Are you serving and are you getting ready?” Think about that for a moment.

In the meantime, let’s take the self-examination test. It’s time to grab a pen, pad, journal, or your thinking cap, and get started. Here goes…

1. Do you know your purpose? If so, what is it?

2. If you know your purpose, what are you doing right now with it?

3. If you’re in a waiting season, are you properly preparing yourself? If so, in what ways?

4. Are you cultivating your gifts? Meaning…training, practicing, studying, researching, etc.? And if so, what are you doing to cultivate them?

5. Are you truly trusting God to bring your destiny to pass or are you wavering and doubting Him?

6. Are you burying any gifts? Meaning…not using some of them?

Whether you have one, two, three, or 10 or more gifts…you need to be doing something with what God has given you. Whatever you do, DON’T BURY YOUR GIFT(S). This is not the time to be a lazy servant. Lazy servants don’t make the cut (*read the story about “The Three Servants” in Matthew 25:14-30). The point here is that you need to use whatever He has given you and be a blessing and a witness for Christ in these last days. YOU have something to give. YOU have something inside of you that needs to come out. God wants to use you for His glory and to bring others to His Kingdom. So what are you called to do?

Are you called to write, dance, sing, act, teach, speak, intercede for the nations, become a business owner, work in the field, volunteer, or go into full-time ministry? What is it? What has God gifted you to do for His glory? If you don’t know, ask Him. He will tell you in His perfect timing. Furthermore, I want to tell you that no matter where you are, He will lead you. You just have to be sensitive to His instructions and then follow.

Right now in my life I am using every gift that God has given me. I want to live a life poured out. I don’t want to withhold anything as it relates to serving God. It’s all for the purpose of building His Kingdom. I live to see others come to know Christ. I wake up every day wanting to know God more and to do His perfect will. My life passion and purpose is to help women grow in their walk with Christ, encourage them to do what God has called them to do, and to live a life that is set-apart and ready for Christ’s return. That’s my mission. That’s what I’m called to do.

One thing that I have to add before I close this post is this. As we do anything for the Lord, we have to make sure that our inner lives are right. It’s the life that no one else can see, but God. It’s the life we live at home behind closed doors, our thought life, phone conversations, personal relationships, what we watch on television, read, or entertain ourselves with, and how we truly feel on the inside. It’s the life that is truly devoted to God from the heart. It’s the life of godly character.

Hebrews 4:13 says, “Nothing in all creation can hide from him. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes. This is the God to whom we must explain all that we have done.” (NLT) When we let God deal with our inner lives, purge us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness, that’s when we’ll have a greater anointing, greater character, and greater effectiveness in anything that we do. When we live right on the inside, others are bound to see Christ on the outside. That’s what this is about.

So whatever you’re called to do, let Him do what He needs to do from the inside out. And cultivate your gifts. Read and study the word of God, pray more, fast, read books, research, train, make time in your day to study your particular area of calling, and make sure that you keep your heart, soul, and mind clean. One more tip…walking in your purpose means doing what you already know to do right where you are and in excellence until God is ready to move you further along. Your destiny will unfold day by day. From experience to experience. From test to test. Just know that God is MAKING you. He’s MOLDING you. He’s fully EQUIPPING you. Because He has CALLED you.

*I would love to know what you are called to do. Write it out here, in the Facebook comment area, or email me at insideoutwithcourtnaye@gmail.com. I want to hear from you so that I can be praying for you in that particular area.

Remember, Jesus is coming back soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let’s be ready from the Inside Out!
