10 Simple Prayers to Encourage the Heart of the Working Mom

Theresa Ceniccola
What do you pray for? I pray for my family, my marriage, my health…for friends and total strangers who are going through a difficult experience…for abandoned children and prisoners of war. Those are probably some of the same things you pray for. But I also talk to God about my business. I ask for divine direction and wise counsel.
If God has blessed you with a business or ministry (or the desire to start one!), here are some of my go-to prayers I’d like to share with you. May they help you remember to keep the faith in all matters of business!

10 Prayers for the Mompreneur
Gratitude
Lord, thank you for the blessing of my business or ministry. I am grateful that you planted a seed in my heart and gave me the resources and opportunity to use my gifts to serve others through my business or ministry.
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him (Colossians 3:17).
Direction
Lord please show me what you want me to do next with the gift of my business or ministry. Teach me to make wise decisions and keep my eyes focused on the path you set before me. Help me avoid temptations and distractions that lead me astray.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Stewardship
Lord, please help me to be a better steward of the many blessings you have bestowed on me. Teach me to be financially responsible and generous with my time, talent and treasure.
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms (1 Peter 4:10).
Courage
Lord, give me the courage and faith to follow your call – even when it means taking risks. Protect me from the doubts and fears that prevent me from fulfilling your purpose for me. Help me to trust in you and feel your never-ending love and presence.
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7).
Confidence
Lord, when I’m filled with doubt about my abilities or qualifications, please cover me with your peace and fill me with confidence. Help me to remember that I am serving you through my business or ministry and that you will equip me to fulfill your call.
Now may the God of peace …equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen (Hebrews 13:21).
Perseverance
Lord, please fill me with faith and resolve to keep moving forward when I feel like giving up. Remind me of your will for me and give me the patience and endurance to stay the course, despite the many obstacles I face.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).
Wisdom
Lord, this business or ministry is a wonderful learning experience for me. Please teach me everything I need to know in order to succeed in your plans. Give me wisdom, knowledge and understanding, so that I may please you and glorify you through my work.
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you (James 1:5).
Grace
Lord, you know my flaws…my mistakes…my weaknesses. Please fill me with your grace and teach me to extend grace to others. Show me how to accept my imperfections and know that only your grace will make me whole.
My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:8).
Support
Lord, I know you did not create me to live this life alone. And I know you didn’t give me this business or ministry to run all by myself. Please surround me with wise and godly friends who will support and encourage me on my journey.
Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm (Proverbs 13:20).
Joy
Lord, teach me to appreciate the simple gifts of this life. Show me how to slow down and enjoy the fruits of my labor and your generous blessings.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).
