Guided By God

Then Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters and masons. And they built David a house. - 2 Samuel 5:11

After David was established as king of all Israel, the other nations noticed the new leader and honored him as the leader of the nation of Israel. To show their respect, they sent materials to him, so he could have his house built. Notice, King Hiram of Tyre recognized David’s anointing. Not only did he recognize God’s anointing, but God put it in the heart of the king to have favor with David and to build him a house.

The honor shown to David really speaks of the character of David. Everyone knew he was a great warrior, as he defeated Goliath the giant and led the armies of Israel in many battles against the Philistines, but from this verse we can see he was also very diplomatic. The leaders of other nations honored him.

Again, we know the Lord’s hand was upon him, but we also know God had given him the wisdom needed to have good relationships with the nations surrounding Israel. Through His blessings and His guidance, David was a man of great character, which was noticed by the other leaders.

When we submit our lives to the Lord, He will guide and direct each one of us individually. He will give us the wisdom and knowledge we need to be leaders of our homes, our businesses and our ministries. All we have to do is submit to Him and seek Him before making decisions. He will guide and direct, when we seek Him.

God guides His people out of sin by faith; through the world by hope; into heaven by love.
