The young boy who was kidnapped in Haiti after gunmen shot a long-time missionary who ran a children’s home in the country, has been found.
SRNNews.com reports that four-year-old Jonathan “JoJo” Paul’s recovery was posted on the Tennessee-based Estes Church of Christ’s Facebook page.
Estes Church of Christ had been the home church of Roberta Edwards, the 55-year-old longtime missionary to Haiti before she was shot by gunmen last month.
Edwards had been in a vehicle with Paul and two teenagers, not far from the foster care home and food distribution site she ran on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince, when the gunmen attacked. Edwards told the two teenage boys to run, and so they got away, but Paul was taken captive, and Edwards was shot.
Two suspects are in custody, but no other details are known at this time.
The Jackson Sun reports that Bobbie Solley, a friend of Edwards,' was in Haiti helping Edwards with her missionary work when Edwards was killed.
“She was a fabulous woman,” Solley said. “Her only concern was the children of Haiti and the children she was caring for.”
