The Word of God

Then David and all the house of Israel played music before the Lord on all kinds of instruments of fir wood, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on sistrums, and on cymbals. - 2 Samuel 6:5

David took thirty thousand choice men of Israel to the house of Abinadab to get the Ark of the Lord and bring it to Jerusalem, making the city the center of worship for the children of Israel. After they loaded the Ark onto the new cart, David and all the people with him began to play music and lead the processional. They were celebrating the Ark of God and what it meant to Israel.

The Ark of the Covenant represented the presence of the Lord. The people were celebrating the Lord. They were so excited to bring the Ark into Jerusalem; they led the way worshipping Him.

I love how David and the people reacted to being in the presence of the Lord. They picked up their instruments and worshipped Him. They had the true joy of the Lord, as they led the cart with the Ark of the Covenant.

We know God is not contained in a box. He was not really in the box, like a Genie in a bottle. The things in the box represented the miracles God had done for the children of Israel, so they were very important to the people.

In the same way, we know God is with us no matter where we go, but the Word of God means so much to us, because it holds God’s promises to us. We do not worship the Bible, but we have great respect for it because it is of the Lord.

All of God’s work is done by God’s Word.
