Blessings in Obedience

“since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies. Also the Lord tells you that He will make you a house.” - 2 Samuel 7:11

Notice this; David had asked to build a cedar house for the Lord, but God turned it around. David would not build a building for the Lord, but God would build a house for David. It was not a building. He was going to build; an eternal house; a spiritual house.

God was promising to make the family of David a house for many generations. God would not only be with David, guiding and directing him, but He would establish David’s descendants to be on the throne of Israel.

This is amazing! God saw the heart of David and how much he wanted to do in service to the Lord and God blessed him for his faithfulness. He did not need anything from David but was blessed by his obedience. In return, God would bless not only David, but the sons and grandsons who came after him. This was a great blessing from the Lord.

This is a great reminder to us. When we are faithful in the small things, God will make us greater in the big things. When God sees our obedience to Him, He will trust us to do more and more in building His kingdom.

In the same way, if you are not faithful in the small things, God will never give you the bigger things, because He knows He cannot trust you with the bigger things.

By obeying Christ’s Commands you will gain more than you can give.
