Time with God - January 22, 2016

Romans 10:11-13 (NLT)

As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who believes in him will not be disappointed." Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They all have the same Lord, who generously gives his riches to all who ask for them. For, "Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

What do you need to call on God about?

Mohammed, part of the Ambassadors for Christ International team in Ghana, recalls a story that demonstrates the reality of spiritual warfare in the north region of Tamale. After he shared the message of Christ in a remote village, a woman came to him asking for help with a problem that kept her from being able to adequately care for her family.

Mohammed listened to her concern: the village women have to carry water every day for cooking and cleaning, but this woman was unable to manage on Fridays. Every Friday, if she tried to carry anything on her head, she would become wobbly and dizzy. She said the rest of the week she was fine, but Fridays she was unable to manage it.

Mohammed prayed for her. It was a Thursday evening and he told her to go and fetch water the next day as on any day. But before she put the bucket on her head, she should call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. She did this, and, to her relief, she was able to carry the water.

We have a Lord who does not disappoint those who believe in Him and who call on Him for help in time of need. He generously gives to us when we ask Him. He is attentive to our prayers, even to a need as simple as setting a village woman free from the tyranny of the enemy so she could carry water for her family.

As we have seen from experience, He does not always change our physical situation, but He will always heal our heart and illumine our minds. Do you know someone who is suffering under the oppression of the enemy who needs to hear this word of encouragement today?
