Tim Tebow to Pursue Career in Professional Baseball

Veronica Neffinger

Popular Christian athlete Tim Tebow has decided to pursue a career playing professional baseball after his football career appears to have stalled.

Tebow, who is currently a broadcaster for ESPN, was cut from the Philadelphia Eagles at the start of last year’s season. With his football prospects fading, Tebow has turned his attention to baseball.

ESPN.com notes that Tebow played baseball in high school and, in fact, excelled at it.

As a high school junior in 2005, Tebow was an All-State baseball player for Florida and hit .495. He was a key player in leading Nease High School to the final four in the Florida state playoffs.

Now, over 10 years later, Tebow has again set his sights on baseball.

The outspoken Christian athlete has reportedly been training in Arizona and Los Angeles where he has been honing his hitting and fielding skills.

Tebow will be showcasing these skills in front of representatives from all 30 major league baseball teams later this month.

One of Tebow’s football agents, Jimmy Sexton, said he supports Tebow’s new endeavor:

“Obviously we support Tim in his pursuit of a baseball career, as we have in all his ventures.”

Although Tebow is giving his energy to a potential baseball career, he will fulfill his contract with his employer, ESPN.
