Serve Your Boss

It is a great temptation to keep your Christianity parked in church, where expressing your faith is safe and expected. It is a step up to live the Christ-life of joyful service in your home. It’s a whole new level to live it at work.

Even if overt Christian talk and testimony is discouraged where you work, the way you treat your coworkers and customers says a lot about how real your faith is. Especially the way you treat your boss: “Serve [your master]wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free” (Ephesians 6:7,8).

in·teg·ri·ty \in-'te-grə-tē\ n. 1. Adherence to a code or standard of values; 2. the quality of being whole or undivided; completeness. Joy in serving means that you are honest and work hard even when no one is watching. Joy in serving means that you trust that God will reward you in his own way at his own time.

When in Doubt: Trust God and Take Responsibility

We all have doubts and uncertainties about many things, and with those comes a tension between trusting God and also taking personal responsibility. It’s from wanting a childlike faith but needing to be a grown-up Christian.

We can trust God and take responsibility for our choices and actions at the same time. In this book, the author encourages you to think deeply about what it means to trust God and at the same time use the gifts and blessings that he has given you to act according to his will.
