10 Beautiful Christmas Bible Verses for Your Holiday Cards

Renée Davis

A while back I was having lunch with a dear friend when the subject of sending Christmas cards came up. She, a loving and very sweet woman, made mention that she really dislikes it when people send her Christmas cards and only sign their names. No mention of how their family is doing or what they’ve been up to, or even a little note of hello or to wish her well. To my friend, though she was appreciative of them taking time to send the cards, it just seemed that those sending the cards were simply going through the motions, doing what was expected—nothing more. The cards were so very impersonal, almost like a chore and didn’t connect with her the way that her heart longed for them to.

I’ve been guilty of it myself. Busy with life, wading through mounds of dirty dishes and laundry, hitting deadlines, and leaping small buildings in a single bound. Then, all the sudden, I’d realize (along with a majority of the rest of the world) that Christmas was only 10 days away, and I hadn’t even thought about gifts, much less Christmas cards. So I’d scream out of my driveway, fly down to the corner drugstore and fight my way through the mob. And, of course, there wouldn’t be any nice boxes of cards left. So I’d grab what I could find, rush home to send them out, only quickly scribbling my name—because, really, a signature is all that’s required.  Then I immediately felt better because I’d get to cross it off my overwhelming, ever-growing to-do list. Sound familiar? (Please tell me I’m not the only one!)

This Christmas, when signing your cards, will you take an extra minute or two to be a blessing to someone and to share your faith with believers and nonbelievers through His Word? His Word is Truth and Life, and by sharing it, there’s no telling the impact that extra minute or two will make. To make it easier for you to share God’s Word during this holiday season, I’ve put together 10 beautiful verses about Christ for you to choose from. In addition to your greeting cards—and for those of us who opt not to send Christmas cards—you can include these in your Christmas newsletters, email signature, handwritten correspondence, and even gift tags.

May these 10 beautiful Scriptures be a part of this Christmas season and allow you to share His Word about the wonder and real reason for the season.

A Christmas Prayer

Father,

Forgive us for just going through the motions in past Christmas seasons. Help us to slow down, and truly celebrate Your Son’s birth, share Your Word, and let others know that they’re important to us and are loved. Thank You for Your Son, for His birth, death, and resurrection. Forgive us for when we forget the real reason for the season. May we fall in love with Your Word all over again.  Please help us to share that love of Scripture with others in every season of our lives.
In Christ’s name, Amen
