Divine Retribution
My God, remember Tobiah and Sanballat, according to these their works, and the prophetess Noadiah and the rest of the prophets who would have made me afraid. - >Nehemiah 6:14
Nehemiah is a prime example of allowing God to hand out His divine retribution, on all those who came against him. He lifted up the situation in prayer. The Lord would exercise His justice and repay Tobiah and Sanballat, for their evil works. He would also repay the prophetess Noadiah and the rest of the prophets who gave false prophecies in an attempt to make Nehemiah afraid.
When God dealt with His people’s enemies, He often allowed their plans to simply fall back on themselves. Remember Haman? He wanted to annihilate the Jews; especially Mordecai, the older cousin of Queen Esther (Esther 2:7). Haman made a gallows to hang Mordecai because he was unafraid of him (Esther 5:14). God used Esther to deliver her people. In God’s divine retribution, Haman was hung on the very gallows he had made of Mordecai (Esther 7:9-10).
Chuck Smith was a good example of leaving situations in God’s hands. Even though he had been stabbed in the back so many times, he would turn around and say––I love you. Even if they had slandered him and said they were sorry, he would take them back and hire them. That was just the way Chuck was––he had peace.
However Chuck Smith was a man of wisdom. When someone was not right with the Lord, figuratively he would hand them a rope. Then he would let the rope go as long as it could. You know what Chuck taught us? What usually happens is that person will end up hanging themselves. In other words, as Chuck watched them, their motives would become obvious. He was smart. Chuck did not have to do anything because these people would entrap themselves.
He will repay my enemies for their evil. Cut them off in Your truth.
