Prayers of Revival

“You are the Lord God, who chose Abram, and brought him out of Ur ofthe Chaldeans, and gave him the name Abraham. You found his heart faithful before You, and made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, and the Girgashites—to give it to his descendants. You have performed Your words, for You are righteous.” - Nehemiah 9:7-8

Nehemiah listened to Israel’s entire history in a prayer of revival. In this prayer, we are going to hear about the greatness of God, the goodness of God and the grace of God. It reveals the majesty of the Lord and the depravity of man.Nehemiah 9shows us God’s holiness and just how sinful we are––it is incredible.

The prayer revealed how Israel reacted to God’s great kindness, mercy, and goodness. They responded with great provocation, and because of their sins, they suffered and had great distress.

Even when we fall short and act terrible, God is kind, merciful and good.

Do you know what God desires for your life? You need to separate yourself from any sin, deny yourself, and make sure you remain hungry and thirsty for the Word of God. It is good to keep focused on the Lord.

Nehemiah 9 is one of three great national prayers that are recorded in the Bible. Ezra 9 and Daniel 9 are also incredible prayers.  I can see the main reason behind these prayers; it is 2 Chronicles 7:14:

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

America, as a nation, needs to be revived.  Those who read God’s Word can prayerfully seek Him in humble intercession. Our great nation needs to turn to God and be forgiven. Only then can revival come.

When God is about to do a great work,
he pours out a spirit of supplication.
