2018 will be an interesting year for faith-based television. Already several networks have announced plans to include shows with Christian content. Netflix recently released the first clip for its upcoming project Come Sunday, which tells the story of a megachurch pastor who stopped believing in hell. Meanwhile, CBS will premiere the comedy Living Biblically, based off the writings of a man who spent an entire year following the Bible as literally as possible. Now, a third program has entered the scene.
According to Variety, CBS had ordered a pilot episode for a new drama called, God Friended Me. The story will allegedly revolve around an outspoken atheist whose world is radically changed when God friends him on Facebook. With a direct link to the Holy Spirit, this sullen sceptic finds himself becoming an agent of change in his community. Variety notes the series was created by Greg Berlanti, the same mind behind such shows as The Flash and Blindspot, so it will be interesting to see what God Friended Me brings to the table. If approved, God Friended Me will likely appear on CBS in the fall of 2018.
