What Happens When We Love God Fully

“‘And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.” (Mark 12:30nkjv)

If you really are a follower of Jesus Christ and living as you ought to, there will be certain people who don’t like you for that reason alone. It is not because you are mean or offensive; it is simply because you are His follower. When you show up, you bother people by your presence. Don’t be hurt by that. Understand that it just goes with the turf.

If you’re living the way God wants you to live, it will tick some people off. You need to know that. Jesus said, “Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for so did their fathers to the false prophets” (Luke 6:26 NKJV). He also said, “Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you” (John 15:20 NKJV).

Are you willing to stand out from the crowd? If you experience some level of persecution, it is a real indicator that indeed you are a Christian. Here is what it comes down to: either you will have harmony with God and friction with people, or you will have harmony with people and friction with God.

But consider this: When you really love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, you will have greater love for other people. You will be able to love people who once drove you crazy. Jesus tells us to love Him more than anyone or anything else, and the result will be that you also end up having more love for people than you had before.

One of the unique traits of the Christian life is that you have an ability, supernaturally given to you from God, to love unlovable people.

Love God more than anyone or anything else.
