Sadie Robertson partnered with an organization called Focus on the Family to create an event that encourages young Christians to be bold in their faith; Bring Your Bible to School Day.
The event is happening Thursday, October 4 and is sponsored by Focus on the Family, a global Christian ministry that focuses on helping families around the world thrive.
Robertson was named the honorary co-chair for the Bring Your Bible to School Day event, and as such created a video to encourage students to use this opportunity to celebrate religious liberty and freedom.
"Be bold, don't be afraid, it's time to do it. Go ahead and bring your Bible to school," Robertson said in the promotional video.
Students can register online as a participant in the event and get a free guide, downloadable poster, T-shirt designs and are entered in to a contest to meet Robertson.
According to CBN News, some 500,000 students brought their Bibles to school for the event last year.
The event left lasting impacts on many of the students who participated and many of them shared testimonials with Focus on the Family.
One 17-year-old named Matthew, told Focus on the Family "At my school, I see so many of my classmates acting and making choices like the Bible is just some random book. I was excited for the chance to share my faith and stand up for what I believe in. This, to me, was the least I can do for God,".
One parent named Michelle said, "My 9-year-old son, Anthony, participated in Bring Your Bible to School Day in Texas. He was a little nervous about what people would think of him in reading his Bible and sharing Jesus, so we prayed together and studied a few Scriptures before he headed to school to help him through the day. He brought 60 Bring Your Bible to School day bookmarks and cards to share with his classmates and teachers. When he came home from school, he was so excited and said there was nothing for him to be worried about because almost all his classmates wanted a bookmark and card. Out of 60 bookmarks he brought, he came back with 13 left."
Focus on the Family is expecting to have even more involvement this year. They believe that this event is important for many reasons, one among them is raising awareness of the legal right students have to bring their Bibles to school.
The First Amendment permits students to bring their Bibles to school, share the Good News with friends, pray, and participate in Christian-themed events.
"It's a wonderful day when kids can express their religious freedom. They are absolutely constitutionally guaranteed the right to bring their Bible to school, to set up a little Bible study at lunch, whatever they want to do. They just can't interrupt class time," Focus on the Family president Jim Daly told CBNNews. "Christian kids need to be able to know what their rights are. It's OK to be a Christian in this culture and express those viewpoints."
