Nothing Happens by Chance
“And watch: if it goes up the road to its own territory, to Beth Shemesh, then He has done us this great evil. But if not, then we shall know that it is not His hand that struck us—it happened to us by chance.”
1 Samuel 6:9
The Philistines decided to check to see if everything that had happened to them might have been just a coincidence. Notice their comment; “…it happened to us by chance.”
Many people believe in fate, destiny or chance. But we worship a God who is in complete control. He is the Creator of the universe, and the earth did not come into existence by chance: the heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork (Psalm 19:1). God laid the foundations of the earth, so it should not be moved forever… (Psalm 104:5).
God created us. Each one of our lives did not happen by chance:
For You [God] formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them (Psalm 139:13-16).
Neither did God’s plan of salvation happen by chance: just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love (Ephesians 1:4). For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren (Romans 8:29).
God has a foreordained plan for our lives (Jeremiah 29:11). We need to come to know Him. Will you seek Him today?
And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
