Living in Light to Glorify God
By Andrea Chatelain

“But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done in the sight of God.” John 3:21

Where were you twenty years ago? What sin were you struggling with? How did you overcome it? I have friends who are former addicts, and they have taught me a lot about the power of bringing your sin into the light.

I’ve heard stories of people being carried out of drug house basements, saved from homelessness, and incarcerated all by the grace of God. My friends are now walking in obedience to Jesus, but when they tell their stories, they make sure to point out how He was the only reason they were rescued. God has continued to provide healing and restoration in their lives as they continue in the light.

When we’re walking with Jesus, and we see Him show up in our need, we can’t help but tell people about it. Let’s call these instances what they are—miracles. It’s a work of the Lord and not ourselves that we’re healed from all sorts of addictions and sin. It’s a miracle when we confess the worst parts of us to Jesus and He gives us grace, mercy, and forgiveness in return.

Jesus calls us to live empowered in light, love, and grace. The miracle of knowing how good it feels to live free in His forgiveness helps us continue on His path. And as we continue with Jesus, our lives will point others to the same freedom.
