Incarnation of Christ

…Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
Philippians 2:5-7

Do you understand what Christ did for us? Think about the Lord Jesus Christ and His humility. He took the form of man and died on the cross for you and me.  There is no king, no queen, and no prince who has ever made that ultimate sacrifice.

In Greek, the word translated being means “an unchanging position,” or “being originally.” When Christ came, He took the body of a man; He never gave up His unchanging nature as God. Even though He had a body of flesh, He never lost His deity. He continued to have the nature of God––it was never lost.

Jesus was God incarnate; God in the flesh. He felt our pain, and took upon Himself our sin. Yet, Jesus was sinless; He never sinned. Jesus made Himself of no reputation. In the Greek language the words translated madeof no reputation means, “emptied Himself.” When Jesus came as a Servant, He humbled Himself and died in our place because He loved us.

So as Christians, what do we believe?

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit He became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man (Nicene Creed).

If we waver on the Incarnation we cease to be Christian.
