Restoration

So the Philistines were subdued, and they did not come anymore into the territory of Israel. And the hand of the Lord was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel. Then the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron to Gath; and Israel recovered its territory from the hands of the Philistines. Also there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.
1 Samuel 7:13-14

Notice, after Israel’s great victory against the Philistines, the Lord restored to them the cities previously taken by their enemies. Then God gave them peace––peace all around.  There was no more war.

God is in the business of restoration. When a person has suffered defeat after defeat and returns to the Lord in true repentance, He begins the process of restoration.David needed to be restored after his sin of adultery and murder, and, in repentance, prayed: Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit (Psalm 51:12).

In your life, are you in desperate need of restoration? If you are backslidden, in sin, and living a life of carnality, begin with repentance and allow God to start a whole new work in your life. God will restore your joy, your strength, and give you peace––peace all around. You will not be at war with God, or yourself:

For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God… (Romans 8:6-7).

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace… (Galatians 5:22).

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast(1 Peter 5:10 NIV).

What verse relates to your circumstances? How will it help in your restoration?

“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten…”
~Joel 2:25~
