Announcements

As they were going down to the outskirts of the city, Samuel said to Saul, “Tell the servant to go on ahead of us.” And he went on. “But you stand here awhile, that I may announce to you the word of God.”
1 Samuel 9:27

Samuel separated Saul from everyone. He would announce to Saul, God’s Word. Samuel told Saul what God had revealed to him. Saul received his call from God––among the people of Israel, he was to be placed in an exalted position as king, under the guidance and direction of the King of kings. Saul was to be consecrated––a vessel in which God could work through––for the benefit of His people.

A prophet announced God’s Word to Saul, but an angel announced to Mary, a young virgin in the city of Nazareth, the Word of God:

“Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end” (Luke 1:30-33).

Imagine, the Lord wants to tell us His plans and purposes for our lives but are we listening? In Jeremiah 29:11NIV, the Lord says: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” There are times when it is good to be separated from everyone else so that you can hear the announcement of the Word of God to your heart.

How can you know God’s plans for your life if you do not take the time to stand still for a while and listen to the Lord?

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
~Jeremiah 33:3~
