President’s Day
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.
Proverbs 29:2
Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin in Hodgenville, Kentucky on February 12, 1809. He later was elected the 16th President of the United States in 1861. In his life time Abraham Lincoln left a legacy of freedom.
The people had endured a great civil struggle––war. Abraham Lincoln was used by God to bring a divided nation together under one Union, the Constitution. He was also known for the great emancipation; the final document was signed and took effect January 1, 1863. Lincoln remarked, "I never, in my life, felt more certain that I was doing right, than I do in signing this paper." Many people rejoiced.
Today, Donald J. Trump is the 45th President of the United States of America. Although not a perfect man, we pray God would continue to use him in leading our great country. It is important for our children and grandchildren that the Constitution, our country’s freedoms and Christian liberties be upheld. We must never forget our brave men and women who have fought and died to keep our nation free.
Under the Trump administration, our ties with Israel have been strengthened. The United States has opened its new embassy in Jerusalem on May 14 2018, the 70th anniversary of the making of the state of Israel on May 14, 1948. Many people in Israel rejoiced.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked President Trump for having the courage to keep his promises. He went on to say, “The truth is that Jerusalem has been, and will always be, the capital of the Jewish people, the capital of the Jewish state.” Biblically, any president, that takes office or any other nation would be wise to befriend the nation of Israel.
“I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
