Consider What God Has Done

“Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you. But if you still do wickedly, you shall be swept away, both you and your king.”
1 Samuel 12:24-25

Samuel exhorted the people of Israel to fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all their hearts. They really needed to consider everything God had done for them in their past history. God, through the prophet Samuel, warned His people and said, “If you do wickedly, God will turn you over to your enemies to be chastened.” Israel would not get away with their sin.

As a Christian, consider everything God has done for you. Why go back to wickedness! We need to remind ourselves in every way what God has done for us. That is the great theology in the Bible. Understand, it is not what you have done for God, but what God has done for you! Seriously, there is nothing you can do for Him, but to please the Lord by giving Him your whole heart in truth and obedience.

The Bible gives to us a stern warning. Paul taught the Corinthian Christians, that  those who choose to continually and willfully sin against God may need to be turned over to Satan for the destruction of their flesh, so on the Day of the Lord Jesus Christ––judgment––their sousl will be saved (1 Corinthians 5:5). Christians really need to take heed to what God is saying to them through the Scriptures.

Where does your life stand before God? Are you guilty of willful sin? Then consider the great things God has done for you and repent.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit you can deny the things of the flesh. Understand, God has done everything in His power to provide a way for you to not lose your soul in eternal judgment (John 3:16).

There are many followers who have likewise never stopped to consider who God is, what He has done, and what He demands of us.
