Today's reading: 1 Peter 5:8-11
"Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour."
When we choose to turn our lives over to Christ and live for Him, Satan becomes our enemy. He is a powerful adversary who is actively seeking to inflict harm on us as one of God's children. Thus Peter's warning to us about being alert, on our guard and prepared for spiritual attacks that will come. Immediately following this caution, Peter lets us know that when we draw on God's power, we can stand firm against Satan. He tells us that we will be strengthened and established through the process.
How often do you think about Satan and spiritual warfare? Why is it important for us to be aware of the fact that Satan is actively our adversary? What encouragement and comfort do you draw from verses 9-11? Tami
