Having the Readiness that Comes from the Gospel – Beloved Women – June 21, 2023

“And with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” – Ephesians 6:15 ESV
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT
Shoes help us go farther and faster. If we are walking outside with no shoes, we open ourselves up to step on any kind of obstacles or even traps that are on the ground. The farther we travel, the more irritated our feet will become until we cannot go any longer. With shoes on however, our feet are protected, preparing us to go further and faster. Just like we cannot go far without shoes, we can’t go far without the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Gospel is this: Jesus came to the world as a man, lived a holy life, died on the cross, and rose again, that those who place their faith in Him, may be forgiven of their sins and receive eternal life. He’s done all the work. The Gospel protects us from having to do the work for ourselves. It frees us from the traps of sin and the law. It enables us to complete our mission with God’s power and not our own.
To not put on the Gospel, is like trying to run a marathon with no shoes. It is so important that we remind ourselves of the Gospel everyday, least we find ourselves ill equipped to complete the mission before us. When we forget the Gospel, we become overwhelmed with the thought that we must accomplish our mission on our own. The Gospel, however, reminds us that although this walk is difficult, the truly hard and impossible work has already been done.
PRAY
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the Gospel of your Son Jesus Christ. Help me never to forget the sacrifice you made to forgive my sins, and allow me to have a personal relationship with You. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
