Under The Enemy’s Watch

Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the Lord. And his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chief of the herdsmen who belonged to Saul.
1 Samuel 21:7

Doeg, an Edomite, loyal to King Saul, just happened to be in the temple. Could it be a coincidence that he saw David? I do not think so. Later on we shall see how Doeg lived up to his name! During this trying time David wrote Psalm 52. David described how he felt and knew the sure end of the wicked:

Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The goodness of God endures  continually.  Your tongue devises destruction, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. You love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking righteousness. Selah

You love all devouring words, you deceitful tongue.God shall likewise destroy you forever; He shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, and uproot you from the land of the livingSelah (Psalm 52:1-5).

David trusted in the mercy of God. He waited on God for his deliverance:

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever,  I will praise You forever, because You have done it; and in the presence of Your saints I will wait on Your name, for it is good (Psalm 52:8-9).

Unfortunately there are those who love to watch people. They will observe and take notes. Later, when the right time comes along, they will inform and betray people by showing the detailed records they have kept. When there comes a time to betray a person they will do it! I have seen it. What do you do in times like these? Trust in God. Wait on Him.

If you will trust yourself with the Savior, he cannot betray or deceive your trust.
~C. H. Spurgeon~
