Guide Our Steps

So David and his men, about six hundred, arose and departed from Keilah and went wherever they could go. Then it was told Saul that David had escaped from Keilah; so he halted the expedition.
1 Samuel 23:13

David departed from the city of Keilah with his men. In prayer, he had asked the Lord direct questions, and the Lord had answered him. God warned David what would happen if he stayed in the city. Saul would come down, and the men of Keilah would hand him over to Saul.

God knew Saul had already called his people to war. He would surround the city of Keilah in hopes of capturing David and his men. Once David heeded God’s warning and left the city, he would be safe. Saul received news that David had left the city. Once again, David and his men had escaped Saul’s grip. God delivered David by guiding him step by step––incredible!

As we seek the Lord for a brand new day ahead of us, or for the different situations that may arise, God will guide our steps. The Bible teaches that God’s Word guides our steps: Direct my steps by Your word… (Psalm 119:133).Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105). Are you in the Word of God every day so He can guide your steps?

Did you notice another amazing truth? When God delivered David from Saul, He delivered him from certain death. It is important to understand that no one can die unless it is their time. Nothing can happen to us until God allows it. No one will be able to hurt us. He can deliver us from any danger. Our life is in His hands. He knows our length of days––the time of our death. God will be our guide beyond death and into eternity, so we do not have to worry.

For this is God, our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death.
~Psalm 48:14~
