Two Very Different Camps

But the princes of the Philistines were angry with him; so the princes of the Philistines said to him, “Make this fellow return, that he may go back to the place which you have appointed for him, and do not let him go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become our adversary. For with what could he reconcile himself to his master, if not with the heads of these men? Is this not David, of whom they sang to one another in dances, saying: ‘Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands’?”
1 Samuel 29:4-5

King Achish really liked David. In a nice way he told him how the Philistine commanders felt. They did not trust David. His popularity was well-known, and among the Philistines the famous song sung about David by the women in Israel was also well-known: “Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.” The Philistines thought that David could betray them. Who could blame them?  Achish told David, “Well perhaps it is better if you stay behind in Ziklag.” I believe the hand of the Lord was at work pushing David out of the way on this situation.

When God is pushing you out of a place you should not be in, do not try and force your way back in––be careful of that. Never force the situation to be in ministry, a certain job, or any other place that you want. As a Christian, seek the mind of the Lord and make sure you know what He wants for your life. Any decisions made can affect other people’s lives.

When you make important decisions in your life, you will often find people in two very different camps. There are those who are waiting and watching to rejoice over you when you do not succeed or you fall. Then there are those who really love you. They will pray for you and lift you up, asking the Lord to strengthen, watch over, and give you power and favor.

Not everyone is going to like you, love you or be pleased with you. What matters most in your life is pleasing God.

Faith pleases God more than anything else.
