To Gaze Upon the Beauty of the Lord – Beloved Women – November 6, 2019

“One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.” (Psalm 27: 4 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT
I’m not a purse girl, but one day, I strolled past a lavender London Fog bag in TJ Maxx…and all of that changed. I fought the urge to buy it, but I was too captured by its beauty to depart with it. This scenario got me thinking, “When was the last time you felt captured by God’s beauty?”
As David reflected on the faithfulness of God, he couldn’t help but be drawn to Him. David’s love for God drove him to seek His presence daily. He wanted nothing more than to behold God and meditate on His life-giving word all the days of His life.
What about us? Do we desire God like we desire valuables, status, or relationships?
If we’re not careful, the lust of our eyes will attract us to idols, creating a wedge between our Heavenly Father and us. We can behold God’s beauty by cherishing His word, and remembering His faithfulness. As we become more attracted to God’s beauty, we’ll become more devoted to living for His pleasure.
PRAY
God, You are infinitely beautiful. There’s no one like You. Please give me eyes that savor Your beauty. God, I love You. Please give me a deeper longing for more of You. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray, Amen.
