Unshakable Faith

Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD. And the LORD said to Satan, “From where do you come?” Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”
Job 2:1-2

Job endured his trials by faith without charging God falsely. He never sinned with his lips. He knew God gave life, and He is the One who takes life. However, Satan was relentless; he never gave up on his attack against Job. Once again, Satan came before God to ask Him to test Job. God reminded Satan of Job’s steadfastness: “...still he [Job] holds fast to his integrity, although you incited Me against him, to destroy him without cause” (Job 2:3).

God again gave Satan permission to test Job. Satan did not waste any time. Job was struck with painful boils from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head. How could he stand, sit or lie down? You would think his wife would have comforted her husband, right? Wrong! She said to him: “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!” (Job 2:9). It would have been better if Job’s wife had remained silent.

One day my back went out on me. I could not move one muscle in my body. I tried to go to the restroom, but I could not move because I was in extreme pain. Sharon called the ambulance. They placed me on a flat board and took me to the hospital. Finally, after three days, I was able to walk. God spoke to me while I was on my back in the hospital. He showed me I needed to have compassion for people who are sick. I had never been sick, but now I understand pain and fervently pray for the sick.

Satan comes in seasons, and when he does, he comes in like a flood. Satan may incite God against you and me, but what can separate us from the love of Christ? Nothing! As long as your foundation is “in Christ,” your faith will not be shaken. God has promised us such an end––heaven.

Who of us welcomes trials and counts them as pure joy? Trials hurt but they also prepare. Trials produce perseverance which leads to maturity. Want to grow in Christ? Welcome trials!
