Overcoming Faith

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
1 John 5:4

Christians have the benefit of Christ’s aid in overcoming temptation: For in that He [Jesus] Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted (Hebrews 2:18). Jesus can deliver us from temptation. In this world, we have many temptations and trials, but in Christ, and by faith, we can overcome in this evil world. Jesus encouraged us with these words: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Believers in Christ have the benefit of having their sins forgiven: In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace (Ephesians 1:7). Our sins are no more––they are gone! Christians, knowing Christ has forgiven them of their sins, have the ability to forgive others: And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you (Ephesians 4:32).

Christians have yet another benefit to look forward to––glorification. One day we shall be with Jesus and stand in His presence. We are not of this world––we are citizens of heaven and will have a new heavenly body:

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself (Philippians 3:20-21).

Beautiful Scripture! Are you really eagerly waiting for the Lord to come back?

“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.”
~Revelation 3:21~
