Being of One Mind in Ministry

But that you also may know my affairs and how I am doing, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make all things known to you; whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that you may know our affairs, and that he may comfort your hearts.
Ephesians 6:21-22

In Paul’s final greeting, Tychicus stands out as a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord. As I look back over my years in ministry, I am reminded of how God has surrounded my life with the same kind of men of God.

Paul felt so good about his friends; they faithfully continued with him in the ministry. He could simply trust them. Some carried letters containing the precious Gospel of Jesus Christ. God has surrounded my life with the same kind of men. I consider them faithful friends in the ministry, men such as: Don McClure, Mike McIntosh, Joe Focht, Malcolm Wild, and Jeff Johnson. These are the original men who God called to be on the Calvary Chapel board together. We have mutually grown together in Christ and in the ministry.

Collectively, we have fellowshipped, eaten, and traveled alongside each other. Every one of us has remained in the same faith, having the same heart and vision that was first established by Chuck Smith in the Calvary Chapel Movement. As co-workers, we have been able to watch how God has used each one of us individually. God is continuing to do His work in us and through us.

All of us have continued to faithfully teach the same Chuck Smith philosophy of ministry––line upon line, teaching through the entire Bible––teaching both the New Testament and Old Testament Scriptures. Through the many years, we continued to be united in the ministry.

Be united with other Christians. A wall with loose bricks is not good. The bricks must be cemented together.
