9:17 AM US Highway 78 goes from Memphis to Tupelo to Birmingham and has been designated as the future I-22 corridor. The entire section through north Mississippi is now complete. When the Alabama section is complete in late 2006, it will open up the area to new development. I nominate the section from Tupelo to Winfield as one of the most scenic highways in America.
9:15 AM We got back from our whirlwind trip to Birmingham a few minutes after midnight. We were dead tired on the drive back to Tupelo. After turning onto the half-mile gravel road leading to the cabin, we were dead tired and suddenly two young deer jumped out right in front of the car. It woke us up . . . fast.
