And the king [David] said, “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, that I may show the kindness of God to him?” Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan; he is crippled in his feet.” The king said to him, “Where is he?” And Ziba said to the king, “He is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, at Lo-debar.” And David said to him [Mephibosheth], “Do not fear, for I will show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan, and I will restore to you all the
--2 Samuel 9:3-4, 7
Just like Mephibosheth, you and I were crippled when Adam fell and sinned. We came into this world crippled — morally and spiritually.
But because of the blood covenant that God made with Christ, Christ made a blood covenant with us. And we’re told in Ephesians 4:32 that God has forgiven us for Christ’s sake — not for our sake.
We were living in Lo-debar. We were crippled and maimed like Mephibosheth. But because of Jesus and His cross… the blood covenant of Christ… you and I have been saved!
And notice what happened to Mephibosheth. He went from living in a barren place like Lo-debar to sitting at the table of the king! His wealth was restored…his position as a member of the royal family was restored… and was able to continually eat the king’s bread. He became a member of the family!
And friend, that’s exactly what happens to you and me when we entrust our lives to Jesus Christ. Because of what He has done with this blood covenant of the cross, we’re now able to sit at the table with the King.
We’re members of the royal family! All because of His blood covenant with you and me.
YOU ARE SAVED THROUGH THE BLOOD COVENANT OF CHRIST.
