What Is Wealth?

Hosea 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
"Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy" (1 Timothy 6:17).

A missionary had been invited by a church pastor to bring a message one Sunday morning. The missionary had one married son and five married daughters, all of whom were in Christian work and present at that service. His five daughters had just finished singing a special song before the congregation.

As he rose to speak, a friend whispered, "Emil, you are a very wealthy man." The missionary didn't have much money, yet his friend considered him wealthy. Emil's friend was correct. He was truly wealthy. His trust was in God.

There are some Christians who are rich in the riches of this world, but their conceit and trust in money have robbed them of their spiritual wealth.

Your spiritual wealth is more than just possessions and money. It is all of God's bl essings: family, friends, health, home, spiritual gifts, job--and much more.

How wealthy are you?

Jesus said, "Not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions" (Luke 12:15).

Give thanks to the Lord now for your "wealth."
