Acts 16:1-18:11
"Having eyes, do you not see?" (Mark 8:18).
The only reason I can think of to explain my bad eyesight is that I didn't choose my parents carefully and they had some kind of genetic defect. Of course, I'm only kidding.I do have pigmentary glaucoma, which has caused me to lose most of the sight in my left eye, and I only have partial sight in my right eye.
Why did God allow this to happen? I don't know, but I know it certainly has taught me to trust Him more.
For me, there is nothing much worse than the thought of going blind. It seems like it would be easier for a paraplegic or quadriplegic to get along in our society than for a blind person.
Of all the conditions I would want to avoid, blindness would be number one, because it is so debilitating, in terms of making you dependent on other people. That's not something I could handle easily.
Perhaps that's why God allowed this in my life: to teach me total dependence on Him and to affirm that H e is sufficient in all things-even bad eyesight.
If you have a handicap of some kind, remember, "The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knows those who take refuge in Him" (Nahum 1:7).
