A Pennsylvania abortion facility was recently inspected, and the health violations that were uncovered were especially egregious.

LifeNews.com reports that Hillcrest Women’s Medical Center in Harrisburg was found to have conducted at least 55 abortions in a single day, yet with no full-time staff member operating the facility and no registered nurse on site.

Additionally, the clinic made no documentation of the kind and dosage of anesthesia administered to patients.

Much of the clinic’s medical supplies was also found to be outdated and unsafe. Swabs for sexually transmitted diseases had expired 13 years earlier and needles and syringes were so old that they were yellow with age.

But that still wasn’t the extent of the clinic’s violations.

The facility also failed to ensure employees had obtained the three background checks required for “significant likelihood of regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training,” which is something clinic employees need since they perform abortions on women under the age of 18.

LifeNews reporter Maria Gallagher notes that the astounding violations at the clinic show the need for Pennsylvania’s abortion center regulation law, which mandates regular inspections of abortion clinics, as these clinics apparently do not care enough about their patients to undertake these inspections themselves.
