Some sources are saying that retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson has dropped out of the presidential race.
Although Carson has not officially suspended his campaign, he has stated that he does not see “a political path forward in light of last evening’s Super Tuesday primary results.”
Carson is waiting to address the viability of his campaign until Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference, Christian Today reports.
Carson has also chosen not to attend the GOP debate Thursday evening in Detroit, his hometown.
"Even though I will not be in my hometown of Detroit on Thursday, I remain deeply committed to my home nation, America," Carson said.
He added that he remains committed to his cause. “However, this grassroots movement on behalf of 'We the People' will continue,” he said.
Carson briefly led the originally crowded Republican field back in the fall, but then quickly lost needed support and has been toward the bottom of the polls for some time.
He finished last or second to last in all 12 states that held primaries or caucuses on Super Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the four candidates still vying for the Republican nomination will hold their first debate since Super Tuesday this evening.
The Republican party finds itself torn between supporting frontrunner Donald Trump and backing a more establishment candidate.
