Islamic State militants have beheaded a 15-year-old boy in Mosul for listening to Western music, a crime which is a weighty offence under Sharia Law.
CBN News reports that the boy was reportedly caught with a CD player and brought before a Sharia court which sentenced him to death.
“Ayham Hussein was captured by the jihadis while listening to pop music at the grocery store of his father in the Nabi Younis marketplace in Western Mosul," an anonymous spokesman told ARA News. "He was referred to the Sharia Court, which issued a decision to execute him."
Islamic State militants then beheaded the boy in a public square with a crowd of onlookers.
After his execution, the militants returned the boy’s body to his family. Some residents were appalled at the violence.
"There was no formal decision by the Sharia Court that bans listening to Western music," the anonymous source said, adding that it is the first documented case of this kind in Mosul.
