The prime minister of Israel said this week he doesn’t agree with what is expected to be a critical report of Israel released by the UN Human Rights Council.

Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that the council has called Israel “guilty even before the examination began.”

The Human Rights Council is expected to release a report of Israel’s actions during last summer, but Israel has released its own report about the events in Gaza, The Jerusalem Post reports.

That report, Netanyahu, said, shows ““unequivocally that our military actions during that conflict were in full accordance with international law, that Israel was exercising its legitimate right of self-defense.”

“There is no country that investigates its military for possible wrongdoing more than Israel,” he said. “We examine all such allegations professionally, thoroughly; they are subjected to independent judicial review by military and civilian courts.”

Netanyahu said the UN investigation is an attempt to “delegitimize Israel using UN bodies.”

Israel launched an offensive attack in Gaza last July in response to rockets from Hamas and other militant groups. According to U.N. and Palestinian officials, more than 2,200 Palestinians were killed in the fighting. About 70 people died on the Israeli side.
