Classic 1968 Clip of Elvis Presley Singing 'If I Can Dream'

As Elvis begins performing, he is on a very personal stage. He is dressed in a classy white suit and the band starts to play a jazzy tune. Elvis sings from his heart about his dream of brothers standing hand in hand. The whole song is about if he could dream. Elvis sings out with such agony in the song about the desire for a better place. He sings, “we’re trapped in a world with trouble and pain.” His soulful style causes you to feel his message at the core of your being.

Elvis is a talented vocalist and performer. He knows how to put on a show. He can pull you in with tender moments and cry out in the midst of intense strong lyrics. After he finishes his performance, he lifts his hands into the air and tells everyone thank you and goodnight.

Someone like Elvis appears to have everything that this world can offer. However, just like all of us, there is never eternal satisfaction in the things of this world. We can only find our purpose and our freedom from our troubles in Jesus. There is a great need for the gift of salvation that only comes through Christ. As Elvis sings about the hardships and the ability to dream, we can remember that even in our most difficult season, God is there with us and we do not even have to dream, we can be confident of His promise to us.

"“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
