A new revelation in the investigation into the deadly Las Vegas shooting which killed 59 people and injured over 500 others has revealed that the shooter shot a hotel security guard six minutes before firing into the crowd from a room of the Mandalay Bay resort and casino.

Hotel security guard Jesus Campos was shot in the leg by Stephen Paddock at 9:59 p.m. local time--about six minutes before Paddock began firing into the crowd.

“He (Campos) was injured prior to the mass volume shooting," said Sheriff Joe Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police in a press briefing on Monday.

As reports, this raises more questions about the handling of the shooting by the hotel and the police. Authorities had previously reported that Campos was shot after Paddock had already began firing into the crowd.

It is still unknown whether or not police were notified of Campos’ injury immediately following him being shot.

Paddock’s motive also still remains unclear. Authorities are still working to uncover more information on the case.

"We want to figure out the 'Why'," Lombardo said during the press briefing. "We would like to know the motive."

Lombardo also told reporters that police are continuing to talk to Paddock’s brother Eric and girlfriend Marilou Danley. “Every piece of information we get is one more piece of the puzzle,” he said.

Late Sunday night, a lone gunman killed at least 59 people and injured more than 500 after he opened fire on a large crowd at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival. The massacre is one of the deadliest mass shooting events in U.S. history.
