Turn off the Lesser Lights
Style: The piano-driven pop rock of The Fray, but composed in an early '90s CCMfashionresembling Michael W. Smith. Top tracks: "Invocation," "Not of Our Hands," "Saints of Our Redeemer"

In a nutshell: 1000 Generations, a group of worship leaders turned indie band, shows their vertical bent in songs like "Fail Us Not," "Not of Our Hands" and "Saints of Our Redeemer," tunes that could easily translate to a corporate worship setting. Other tracks, like "How Big Small Can Be" and "What Only You Can Do" have a more story-telling feel. Where this group clearly has a gift for writing worship material, the album sounds likea recordstraight out of the '90s CCM market, complete with mega-reverbed guitar and twinkly piano lines. The core of the writing is smart, but the production detracts from the real essence of the songs.
