VERITY RECORDS LEADS GOSPEL LABELS IN DOVE NOMINATIONS

Nashville, Tenn./February 2, 2000 - Verity Records' artists and projects garnered twelve Dove Award nominations last week, more than any other gospel music label. Among the nods was a "first" for singer/songwriter/producer {{Fred Hammond}} who was nominated for the coveted Male Vocalist Of The Year award. The Dove Awards, gospel music's Grammy equivalent, will be broadcast live on TNN, April 20, 2000.

In addition to Male Vocalist, Hammond was nominated in eight other categories, four as performer and four as producer. Hammond's song "Power" from ==THE PRINCE OF EGYPT - INSPIRATIONAL== was nominated for Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song. Hammond's production credits included songs he performed with his group Radical For Christ on two compilation projects: ==BRIDGES== and ==THE PRINCE OF EGYPT - INSPIRATIONAL==, as well as for producing The Mighty Clouds Of Joy project, ==IT WAS YOU==.

Labelmate {{Richard Smallwood}}, who was honored with three Stellar Awards earlier this month, received four Dove Award nominations in conjunction with his project, ==HEALING: LIVE IN DETROIT==. {{Helen Baylor}} was nominated in two categories: Contemporary Gospel Song and Contemporary Gospel Album Of The Year for HELEN BAYLOR LIVE.

The girl quartet {{Virtue}} was also nominated for Contemporary Album Of The Year for ==GET READY==!, while pianist {{Ben Tankard}} received a nod for Instrumental Album Of The Year for his project, THE MINSTREL. Two of Verity's compilation projects, BRIDGES and THE PRINCE OF EGYPT-INSPIRATIONAL are nominated for Special Event Album Of The Year.
