September 22

“And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made He a woman, and brought her unto the man.”
Genesis 2: 21, 22, King James Version

“Womb of God”

“Transforming womb of God
Conceive in us;
Create in us;
Create anew life;
Faith, the confidence to bear
Hope, continuously expectant
Love, the true beginning.”

Laughter, Silence, and Shouting

What do I believe God has created in me that is waiting to burst forth with new life?

INSPIRATION

“This is the family tree of the human race:  When God created the human race, He made it godlike, with a nature akin to God.  He created both male and female and blessed them, the whole human race.”
Genesis 5: 1, 2, The Message

Today we begin a study that is called, “Women in the Bible Talk to Women Today.”

This series of daily devotionals begins with the first book in the Bible, Genesis, and will continue through both the Old and New Testaments and finally end with the last book in the Bible, Revelation.

Along the way, the daily devotionals will focus on the lives of every woman in Scripture, named and unnamed.  Whenever we come to a woman’s story we’ll stop and ask the following questions:

1.  Why is this woman’s story included in the Bible?

2.  Does God have something special to teach me from this story?  What is it?

3.  What lesson can I apply directly to my life today?

Each day as we explore the stories and life-lessons, it is my prayer that you will find heaven’s refreshment filling your heart and life.

This week we are beginning in Genesis and the woman we will be studying is Eve, our first mother.

This week the planned topics are:

1.  A Glimpse Into Eve’s Home

2.  A Look At Eve’s Husband

3.  Feeling Eve’s Hurt

4.  Embracing Eve’s Healing

5.  Lessons From Eve’s Life

These devotionals are designed to encourage women in their daily walk with Jesus, but men are more than welcome to join in the study of God’s daughters throughout history.

There will be a three-part format to all the devotionals.  The section entitled Exploration asks a question that inspires deeper thought regarding each day’s topic.  Inspiration is the part of the devotional that contains the message or story.  Finally, every day’s devotional will end with an Affirmation of support and encouragement.

I invite you to return tomorrow or sign up to have the devotional emailed to you directly each day.

AFFIRMATION

“I Am a Woman”

“I am a woman
born of God
I am a woman
born of love

I am caring and competent
vulnerable and powerful
seeking wholeness
physically, emotionally and spiritually

I am a woman
reaching out to others
making a difference in myself
my family
community
church
and the world

I am empowering myself
to empower others…

…I am a woman
who sees the interconnectedness of all human beings
who values the unique gifts of all

I am a woman who leads and follows
who accepts responsibility for myself
and the choice I make

Yes, I am a woman
who sees each day as a new beginning
a chance to grow in self, love, and service

I am woman
born of God
I am a woman
born of love.”
