Dick Van Dyke Looks 'Forward to Going to Work Every Morning’ at 98

Legendary entertainer, Dick Van Dyke, is not slowing down despite having recently turned 98 years old.

Aging, unfortunately, is something that happens to every single person. Time makes no exceptions, stopping for no one. While aging and getting older will impact everyone, how one looks at and approaches the aging process can have a big impact on life.

Despite being in his late 90s, the incomparable Dick Van Dyke still has a terrific outlook on aging and getting older. In a clip posted on YouTube, the “Marry Poppins” star mentioned that he still enjoys a full life and even enjoys going to work every day.

“It’s such a blessing to find a way of making a living that you love, that you’d do for nothing,” Dick said. “I feel so sorry for people who hate their jobs. I look forward to going to work every morning.”

Dick states that he tries to avoid thinking about aging by continually making friends and staying active. He added that he still goes to the gym three days a week and sings with his group, The Vantastix.

“Getting your living done first,” Dick said. “And have the nerve to try something. Failure’s OK.”

In the interview, Dick also looked back upon his storied career. The video mentions that early on, Dick stated that he only wanted to be in family-friendly films that his children could watch. That led to him being cast in such films as “Mary Poppins” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”

Decades after those films were released, Dick says that he still gets fan mail, most of which is from children who are experiencing those films for the first time. He says that he gets more letters from fans now than he did when those movies first came out.

Dick also revealed that he nearly played a legendary spy who is licensed to kill.

“I could have been James Bond,” Dick said.

He states that he was considered for the role after Sean Connery stepped away from those films and that role.

“When Sean Connery left, the producers said, ‘Would you like to be the next Bond?’ I said, ‘Have you heard my British accent?’” Dick said.

What a legendary and inspirational figure who has experienced a storied career and life.
