EMI Gospel Signs The Tri-City Singers To An Exclusive Recording Agreement
EMI Gospel recently announced the signing of The Tri-City Singers to an exclusive recording agreement. The award-winning group will release a brand new album, Tri-City4.com, on January 25, 2000. Produced by group founder and visionary {{Donald Lawrence}}, the album will be the first new project from the groundbreaking vocal ensemble in nearly 5 years.

In a move destined to set the pace for gospel music marketing, EMI Gospel will make the album's first gospel radio single available, prior to the retail release of the album, exclusively via download. Internet sale of the single is targeted for December 25, 1999 through the new Tri-City4.com website.

The downloadable single is but one aspect of a cutting-edge marketing plan geared toward expanding the reach of this project beyond the normal promotional channels for gospel music. "The decision to utilize the new technology is in keeping with the overall theme of the Tri-City4.com project," says Shawn Tate, Director of Marketing for EMI Gospel. "An Internet strategy is an important part of our label's overall marketing efforts. This project presents us with a unique opportunity to use the Internet to heighten the visibility of The Tri-City Singers both in and beyond the gospel marketplace."

Visitors logging onto the Tri-City4.com website will be able to access updated tour information, exclusive behind-the scenes details on the making of the album, in-studio photos and interviews with Lawrence and individual members of the group. The site will also link to various websites within the music community where EMI Gospel is partnering to cross-promote the album.

The highly anticipated Tri-City4.com features a trio performance by gospel music divas {{Karen Clark-Sheard}} and Kim Burrell, along with R&B sensation Kelly Price. All three artists have enjoyed tremendous success, moving to the forefront of the gospel and mainstream marketplaces over the past 2 years. The album will mark the first time they have worked together on a recording.

"Donald Lawrence is one of the most creative music producers I've ever met," says Ken Pennell, Managing Director of EMI Gospel and Executive Producer of the upcoming album. "When he founded The Tri-City Singers, he put together a group of vocalists whose talent is extraordinary. Even more importantly, in keeping with the mission statement of EMI Gospel, the group has a great passion to communicate the Gospel to the widest possible audience."

Since releasing their debut project "Songwriter's Point of View" in 1993, The Tri-City Singers have become one of gospel music's most unique and popular choirs, selling more than 250,000 albums and earning a Stellar Award.

Simultaneously, Grammy-nominated producer Lawrence has become a prolific songwriter and choral arranger, while earning a reputation as one of gospel music's premier record producers. His recent production credits include the highly successful solo debut of Karen Clark-Sheard, finally Karen and Bishop {{T D Jakes}}' top-selling Sacred Love Songs. Both projects have been regular entries on Billboard's Gospel Album chart.
