It struck me the other day and in the process of thinking about it, left a pit in my stomach.

As I prayed about the ongoing heartache surrounding the school shooting in Connecticut, I thought about the fact that many of the children who appeared in Focus on the Family’s “John 3:16” advertisement that aired earlier this year are the same age as many of the victims at Sandy Hook Elementary School. We all love the sweetness and innocence of children and just can’t fathom any person deliberately harming one of them.

On today’s Focus on the Family radio program, John Fuller and I discuss how we live in a world of contradictions. The joy of the children in our John 3:16 ad conflicts with the pain and sorrow the enemy inflicts on us all. This is not how God designed the world to be, but we live in a fallen world. I invite you to listen to today’s program, but in the meantime want to share the ad again with you here:

If you are having a hard time dealing with life, whether it’s the shooting in Connecticut, personal health difficulties or the loss of a loved one, we are here for you. Counselors are available. We’d also like to make two booklets available to you by clicking here and here.
