Residents of Aleppo, Syria are in desperate need of relief from the constant airstrikes that have destroyed much of the city and taken many lives.

ABC News reports that a recent airstrike targeted several hospitals in the city. There is now reportedly no medical facilities open to help residents.

Much medical help is needed. In a recent heartbreaking video, a young boy is shown at a children’s hospital receiving treatment for breathing in chlorine gas from an airstrike. He implores the woman treating him, “Will I die, miss? Will I die?”

“No darling, don’t worry,” the woman soothes him.

However, while the boy was being treated, the hospital was hit by an airstrike and medical personnel had to rush to evacuate patients, some of whom were babies in incubators.

“I am well, but I don’t know for how long,” said Mohamad Abu Rajab, a radiologist in eastern Aleppo. “Every day, I say goodbye to a new member of the medical staff who has died.”

The situation in the city is dire. More than 250,000 people are reportedly without access to medical care.

“The situation is miserable,” added Farida, a doctor in Aleppo who gave only her first name out of fear for repercussions.“The airstrikes haven’t stopped for several hours.”

According to the United Nations, aid workers handed out the last of their food rations earlier this month. Residents are in desperate need of basic supplies.
