The Rev. Franklin Graham has been instrumental in resolving the conflict at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in eastern Oregon.

SRN News reports that a group took control of the wildlife refuge nearly six weeks ago to protest the government’s seizure of land and jailing of two local ranchers on what some believe are trumped up charges.

The FBI has thanked Graham for his part in resolving the standoff.

At a news conference in Burns, Oregon, FBI Special Agent Greg Bretzing said Graham had been in contact with the protesters for over a week “helping them work through their issues so they could come to a point where they were ready to leave of their own volition.”

Graham, as well as Nevada lawmaker Michele Fiore, were at the gate to the wildlife refuge on Thursday when the four protesters finally ended their occupation of the land.

At least one of the protesters had requested Graham be present when they emerged from their encampment.

On his Facebook page, Graham thanked God for everyone’s safety and said he is praying that “their grievances will be heard and addressed through the right channels.”
